A follow-up on to 2006’s popular program, this year’s discussion will focus on the practical approaches to licensing IP from the licensor’s perspective. We’ll focus on the legal issues involved in licensing approaches to different types of intellectual property (e.g., patents, copyrights, trademarks, and trade secrets), what the most heavily negotiated provisions are, terms that are most problematic, and practical tips on negotiating IP licensing from a licensor’s perspective.

"Patent litigation" - unfamiliar venues, strange procedures, and crippling potential downsides often come to mind with these words, and companies’ patent dockets continue to expand. This panel of patent litigation veterans will draw from their experiences to help you better address your next patent case, from practical tips to new case law that will drive the cutting edge of this important topic.

This material provides you with various intellectual property tools, attributes of different types of IP, emerging issues checklists and issue-spotting checklists and best practices.

How do you protect your company from IP theft? What is a trade secret and how do you protect it? What laws are applicable to trade secrets? How do you protect them? What do you do if you think they’ve been misappropriated? If they have been misappropriated, what if it’s by an employee? This course provides a basic introduction to law governing the protection of IP, with a focus on trade secrets.

This session will be focused on the most significant changes in trademarks, copyrights and patents over the past year. The session is ideal for attorneys with a basic level of IP understanding, and is an essential program for every attorney who has IP responsibility.

A patent is a complex document that is made up of many parts, including specifications that describe the item, how to make and use the invention, claims that specifically describe what is protected by the patent, and explanatory drawings, if needed. The cover sheet to the patent and the patent itself contain a wealth of information, but reading a patent can be an educated and productive undertaking or a frustrating attempt to glean important information while sifting through its many parts.
