This presentation will focus on the hottest workplace-related issues in sports and entertainment. A team of highly experienced employment law attorneys who regularly help employers navigate California’s ever changing employment law landscape will share practical lessons regarding handling COVID vaccination, mask, and exemption/accommodation issues related to employees and third parties, the most common wage-and-hour pitfalls among industry employers, and other notable workplace topics impacting sports and entertainment employers now and in the future.

Crypto Presentation Introduction to Bitcoin and the Blockchain  - Distributed Ledgers - Decentralized Control - Cryptography and Encryption - This will all be discussed in the simplest terms to make sense of the rise of Bitcoin and what is at the foundation of this entire movement.

 

Ethereum and Smart Contracts  - Programmable blockchain that allows developers to build applications on top of the blockchain. - E.g. can program a legal contract or financial transaction into a smart contract. - Ethereum is what made Crypto what it is today. People have now used this programming framework to create all kinds of new cryptos and artificial money for whichever use case they want. (Will bring in examples of how this will be and already is being used in sports/ entertainment industry later)

 

NFTs ( - Discuss what NFTs are and why they have become so popular in the sports/entertainment space. - Brief discussion about continuous innovation of NFTs - Traditional top-down approach vs. new bottom-up approach (new as in less than a month old).

 

Effects on Sports and Entertainment Industries  - Raising money via Crypto for teams, athletes, celebrities, etc. - Teams creating tokens for special deals and potentially ownership stake in team. - NFL players negotiating contracts to be paid in Crypto - Eventually contracts will be in the form of NFTs on the blockchain and money will be automatically distributed and all incentives/bonuses can be programmed into the smart contract. - NFTs as collectibles (NBA Top Shot/MLB Baseball game) - Discuss top down approach (Larva Labs/United Talent Agency partnership) vs. new bottom up approach and how it relates to sports.
