This webinar, presented by Quarles & Brady LLP and ACC Wisconsin, will cover the basics of asserting claims in bankruptcy cases, including submission of general unsecured proofs of claim, secured claims, administrative priority claims, and setoff claims. Attendees will learn how to identify and assert often-overlooked key creditor rights.

The program will also cover the most common defenses to lawsuits seeking recovery of "preferential" payments made to a creditor by a debtor in the months leading up to a bankruptcy filing, and will provide insight on reducing the risk that your company will become a defendant in a preference lawsuit or best situating yourself to defend against such lawsuits when they happen.

In June 2022, the US Supreme Court resolved an important issue regarding international arbitrations by ruling that, contrary to two previous appellate court rulings, a U.S. statute that authorizes federal courts to order discovery “for use in a proceeding in a foreign or international tribunal” does not apply to proceedings in foreign and international arbitrations before private adjudicatory bodies.
