A few years ago, I packed up my things at the firm and headed out the front door to start a position as a local financial institution’s first in-house counsel. I was justifiably anxious because I had never been an in-house attorney, and the financial institution had never had one. Even worse, I didn’t have a friend or mentor at my disposal. For better or worse, I was on my own.
