Remote work and flexible schedules have burgeoned with the spread of COVID-19 and are likely here to stay. Compliance issues such as the Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification affect all companies (regardless of whether they sponsor foreign nationals), and because of COVID-19 the relevant agencies have modified those processes. In addition, as companies review their policies, procedures, salaries and benefit structures for this century’s workplace, you must remember immigration and the accompanying issues if your company employs any foreign nationals on nonimmigrant temporary work visas. Foreign nationals can find themselves out of status and unable to work if the correct procedures are not followed.
