Because of rising geo-political risks between the United States and China, banks and other financial institutions with operations in Hong Kong have had to prepare for many eventualities.

This article describes several mitigation measures that such organizations can take, including demergers, offshoring, relocation of personnel, and account closures. The mitigation measures could aid in minimizing the impact of any conflicts between foreign legislations on Hong Kong-related sanctions and legislation.
