The findings from the 2026 ACC Chief Legal Officers Survey, ACC's global flagship survey of 1,049 Chief Legal Officers (CLOs) and General Counsel across 43 countries provides a comprehensive view of how legal leaders are navigating a global environment marked by geopolitical fluctuation and the rapid ascent of artificial intelligence. Amid these and other disruptions, CLOs have been stalwarts of enterprise resilience, balancing a dual mandate of driving strategic growth while managing increasingly sophisticated risks. In the 2026 corporate legal landscape, the fundamental shift in the CLO role from a specialized legal advisor to an essential business strategist and technology leader continues to accelerate.

ACC is pleased to release this supplemental report, which shares the results from 65 CLOs based in Canada and compares them to the global survey results. A set of tailored key takeaways highlights the differences and similarities of Canadian CLOs with their global counterparts on strategic influence, regulatory challenges, and legal technology priorities.

Alongside the global report, we hope that this supplement provides valuable information to help CLOs in Canada benchmark their roles, priorities, and strategies against global trends.
