Dear Members,

It is perhaps stating the obvious but we are living in turbulent times and experiencing all kinds of different change, and accompanying anxiety both in our workplaces and at home.

Your association, ACC Australia will continue to be present and active for its members and will continue to provide the high quality education, networking and resources that you have come to expect, and are necessary in supporting your career as an in-house lawyer.

I have been working closely with the ACC Australia Board, Management and staff both here in Australia and at the global head office in Washington D.C. to ensure that our association adapts to this changed environment in which we are all operating. I am very pleased to report that in a short space of time, ACC Australia has adapted its work practices and the many ways that ACC Australia deliver valuable services to you. We are ensuring that there is no diminution in the value proposition that ACC Australia offers.

Whilst ACC Australia has of course had to defer some face to face events to later in 2020 and potentially beyond, many events have been swiftly converted to an online format. Many members have taken advantage of this different method of delivery for this content. In addition, I would like to highlight the following actions we have undertaken:

  • A new ACC Australia website went live last week making it even easier for our members to access both local and global resources online.
  • ACC Australia has gathered a wealth of COVID-19 resources for our members to access.
  • Our head office team has seamlessly moved to remote working whilst maintaining and indeed increasing levels of contact with our members.

The ACC Australia has continued to support the in-house profession but we cannot do so without the support of our members into the future. ACC Australia relies upon membership fees to fund the services to its members and we trust that throughout 2020 our members will continue to renew their membership. We are conscious however, that many of our members have been, or might soon face the possibility of being made redundant, being stood down or perhaps taking a reduced salary. If you face any of these or similar circumstances, please feel free to contact our membership team so that ACC Australia can support you in what may be difficult financial circumstances.

Finally, I want to thank our staff and our Board for all of the extra time and effort they have contributed to ensure that your Association adapts to this challenging new environment and continues to fulfill its mission of serving our members.

Sincerely,

Justin Coss
President
