Overview (Program Summary)
A program hosted by:
ACC AustraliaJoin us for a two-part season exploring key legal risks for businesses.
Session 1 will explore Greenwashing and how to make environmental claims in an appropriate way and highlight recent ACCC enforcement actions and cases.
Session 2 will explore Officer Duties - Are you one and what are the implications if you are? This session will explain who may qualify as an ‘Officer’ and the duties and responsibilities that come with the role.
The sessions will conclude with drinks to celebrate the commencement of the new financial year!
Speakers
Brett Garth, Senior Associate, Page Seager Lawyers
Brett works with both private and corporate clients, specialising in mergers and acquisitions and corporate governance and structures.
Brett also advises in relation to finance and security arrangements and has previous experience in commercial property acquisitions and disposals, and commercial and retail leasing.
Brett joined Page Seager in 2016. In 2019, he moved to London for three years where he worked as an in-house counsel for the United Kingdom’s largest rolling stock company, specialising in large-scale leasing and procurement transactions before returning to Page Seager in 2021.
Justin Hill, Principal, Page Seager Lawyers
Justin has over 25 years’ experience working with corporate clients, government business enterprises and state-owned corporations. He specialises in business sales and purchases, share sales and purchases, governance and corporate structures and restructures. Justin also has significant experience in finance (including derivative transactions) and advising on raising capital for companies by way of equity and debt.
Justin is listed in the 2024 Doyle’s Guides as a “Pre-eminent” Corporate, Commercial & Business lawyer in Tasmania. This is the highest ranking in the Doyle’s Guide and only two other lawyers are listed in this category.
Rachel Hopkins, Senior Associate, Page Seager Lawyers
Rachel was admitted to the Supreme Court of the Australian Capital Territory in 2003 and began her career in the Commercial and Government Law practice of Phillips Fox in Canberra. Rachel was recruited by the Department of Defence in 2006 and began to accumulate experience in the acquisition of major military platforms, support systems and a diverse array of other services and programs required by the organisation. In 2019, Rachel joined the National Naval Shipbuilding Office (NNSO) which is responsible for the next generation of Australia’s frigates and submarines. She joined Page Seager in 2023 after returning to Tasmania.
