Speakers

Jason McQuillen, Head of Legal Optimisation Consulting, MinterEllison
Jason is a lawyer and consultant dedicated to enabling inhouse legal functions to reset their strategy, work more efficiently and deliver greater value to their stakeholders.
As Head of Legal Optimisation Consulting at MinterEllison, I assist clients with everything that helps their legal function run more effectively, including strategy and target operating model (re)design, resourcing strategy (including ALSP), selection and implementation of LegalTech, better use of enterprise technology, safe implementation of AI, full contract lifecycle management and setting up and running managed legal services. 
Michael Masterman, Chief Product Officer, AllyOne
Michael is Chief Product Officer at AllyOne, where he leads product strategy, design, development, and delivery. Michael works closely with in-house legal teams to help them adopt AllyOne effectively.
Prior to joining AllyOne, Michael has had a successful career in consulting, specialising in digital strategy, transformation and delivery. Working for Deloitte and NTT, Michael has lead technology adoption and implementation projects for many large public and private sector organisations.
Kate Carlile, Chief Legal Officer, Toll Group
A strategic business partner with a track record for driving meaningful change, Kate has 25 years’ in house and private practice experience, working for a global logistics company and top tier law firms in Melbourne and London. In her current role as Chief Legal Officer for Toll Group, Kate is responsible for the Legal & Business Resilience function, which covers Legal, Compliance, Business Assurance and Risk, Insurance and Protective Security (Cyber and Physical). Kate reports directly to the MD and is a member of the Global Leadership Team, contributing to the strategic leadership of Toll. During her time at Toll she has developed her function into a high performing team that values cross-divisional collaboration and is respected by the broader business for their commercial acumen as well subject matter expertise.
Lilly Javadi, Senior Legal Counsel, Toll Group
A subject matter expert with strong commercial acumen, Lilly has 10 years’ in house and private practice experience.
In her current role as Senior Legal Counsel for Toll Group, Lilly supports a broad range of business functions to manage legal risk and oversees complex dispute resolution.
During her time at Toll, Lilly has been a key player in the implementation of automation and technology driven projects, contributing to Toll’s digital transformation over recent years.

Howard Edelman is a Director for the Australia Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) and is President of ACC NSW.
His previous role was General Counsel & Company Secretary for A2B Australia bringing almost 30 years of corporate and commercial experience across various industries, including technology, financial services, manufacturing, infrastructure and retail including Real Pet Food Company, CSG Limited, AUB Group Limited, CIMB Australia and iSoft Group Limited. He has held senior roles with Australian Super and Super Retail Group and worked for the law firms Skadden Arps and Allens, specialising in corporate law.
Howard is admitted to practice law in NSW and New York, USA and has a Juris Doctorate from Brooklyn Law School and a Bachelor of Arts from Hamilton College.
