Session 2:
Executive Presence: What Is It, Why It Matters, and How to Develop It.
Executive presence is often the missing link between competence and career acceleration. It is not just about what you know, but how you show up. For 1Ls, 2Ls, and recent graduates, developing executive presence early is a game-changer. This session will demystify executive presence and explain why it is crucial to long-term success in law firms, government, and public service roles. She will also share tools, practical guidance, and resource materials to help refine your executive presence throughout your career. From receiving mentor feedback to practicing self-coaching techniques, this session will assist you in elevating your professional image and presence.
Guest Speakers:
- Dawn Haghighi, is an independent board director for Elevat and general counsel for Murcor Real Estate, adjunct professor USC Gould School of Law, adjunct professor LMU Loyola Law School, business school lecturer, ACC Leader, global business, trade association and not for profit leader and board member including the FBI Los Angeles Citizens Academy Board of Directors. She previously held senior legal roles at Princess Cruises, RBS/Citizens, and Nordstrom. Ms. Haghighi recently presented her first TED Talk: Say Hello to Your Better Self: Going from the Ordinary to the Extraordinary. She is an Inaugural Member Of The 50 Women To Watch In North America For Public Company Board Service.
- Peter Steckelman, leads Tennis Channel’s Business & Legal Affairs team as its Senior Vice President. Prior to Tennis Channel, Peter served in similar capacities in the general entertainment and consumer products industries. Peter currently serves on the Board of Directors of Phoenix House California as well as on ACC SoCal’s Board of Directors. Additionally, he is the current Vice-Chair of ACC’s Network Leadership Council.
