This session will take you through how companies, across the globe, are or should be looking to shape or augment their approach to the ethical, legal, compliance and governance challenges that businesses face when pursuing digitalization.

The session will focus on both customer and supply side, including where businesses are developing, selling/licensing, buying or embedding digital technologies and solutions, forming collaborations and/or undertaking M&A activity.

Within the session, we will showcase the findings of Eversheds Sutherland's own recently launched thought-leadership report. Based on a survey of 700 C-suite leaders around the world, the report explores a number of key themes relating to the ethical, legal, compliance and governance challenges that businesses face when digitalizing their companies. The session aims to allow you to both benchmark where your company is on its journey and leave with some key takeaways of areas to focus on.

Our panel will be bringing to life a discussion on a key consideration for Industrial company boards, being the race for technology. Whether it is using technology to improve supply chain constraints or the digitalization trend towards internet 4.0 and autonomy, major Industrial corporates are increasingly competing for new technology developments. Such drive can put a major listed corporate in an uncomfortable position: How does an established corporate perform the extensive due diligence it requires in the context of a start-up business? How rigorous has the tech company been with protecting its IP? How will shareholders react to a listed company paying a multiple of revenue for a pre-profit business and the impact on EPS? How will the corporate integrate the technology or realize its investment? What are the downside protections i.e. how do you get out if the technology is never realized?
