An overview of Indian Law history, contemporary Indian county and doing business with Indian tribes which will cover: organization, contracts and contracting, Sovereign immunity, forums for dispute resolution and Tribal employment rights ordinances.
Speaker, Atty. Carl Artman, Former, Tenth Assistant Secretary – Indian Affairs at the U.S. Department of the Interior. He also served as the Department’s Associate Solicitor for Indian Affairs.

Carl Artman is an attorney specializing in Tribal Law. He served as the tenth Assistant Secretary – Indian Affairs at the U.S. Department of the Interior. He served also as the Department’s Associate Solicitor for Indian Affairs.
Atty. Artman has spent more than a quarter century working in Indian country for tribal clients and those that sought to engage in business with tribes. He has taught, lectured, and testified on these issues at ASU College of Law, at various nationwide and regional conferences, before the U.S. Congress, as an expert witness before courts.
Mr. Artman received a Juris Doctorate from Washington University School of Law, a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a LLM in Natural Resources and Environmental Law from the University of Denver.
