Speakers

Marion Welborn Weinstock chairs Gordon Arata’s Commercial Transactions section and serves as a Managing Member of the firm. Her practice covers a wide range of commercial transactions, including those related to renewable and traditional energy. Marion is ranked in Chambers USA for Real Estate. She is a Louisiana Bar Foundation Fellow and has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America® several times as a Lawyer of the Year – New Orleans for various practice areas. New Orleans CityBusiness selected her as a Woman of the Year honoree in 2019 and 2020. Prior to entering the private practice of law, Marion clerked for the Honorable Walter F. Marcus, Jr., Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of Louisiana. While in law school, she was a member of Tulane Law Review and graduated summa cum laude. She was also inducted into Order of the Coif and received the Faculty Medal for graduating first in her class.

Peggy Welsh represents clients in multiple industries, including renewable and traditional energy, in corporate transactions and governance matters. She is the Assistant Chair of the Commercial Transactions section of Gordon Arata. Peggy has been recognized as a Louisiana Super Lawyers Rising Star 2019 - 2020. She received a New Orleans CityBusiness Leadership in Law Award in 2019 and was also a Bryan Bell Metropolitan Leadership Forum Participant in 2019. Peggy serves as Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors of Propeller, a New Orleans based nonprofit. Before joining Gordon Arata, Peggy worked as a corporate associate in New York at Clifford Chance, a London-based firm where she routinely handled the negotiation and drafting of numerous types of complex agreements, including shareholder, license, merger, joint venture, restructuring and asset and share purchase and sale agreements. Peggy received her J.D. from Tulane University, magna cum laude, and served as a Managing Editor of the Tulane Law Review. She was also inducted into Order of the Coif.

Phil Antis is a co-chair of Gordon Arata’s Litigation Section, focusing his practice on commercial litigation in state and federal courts. His experience includes complex class actions, business and contract disputes, employment matters, banking litigation, title disputes, insurance matters, construction, products liability, fraud, misrepresentation, and other business torts. Phil works with the New Orleans Pro Bono Project and other community organizations to provide legal services to low-income and elderly clients on a pro bono basis. Phil personally represents several pro bono clients in litigation and family law matters. He has been listed as a Super Lawyer and received Louisiana State Bar Association’s Pro Bono Publico Award in 2014 and Pro Bono Project’s Distinguished Service Award in 2013. He is listed in A.M. Best’s Directory of Recommended Insurance Attorneys. In law school, Phil distinguished himself as the Champion of the 2003-2004 Tulane Senior Trial Competition. While at Tulane, he was inducted into the Order of the Barristers.

Kelly Perrier practices in the areas of oil, gas and energy litigation, commercial litigation, and construction litigation, particularly focusing on claims of historical and ongoing environmental damage allegedly caused by oil and gas exploration and production activities, commonly referred to as "legacy litigation." Kelly serves as the Professional Landman Association of New Orleans’ president and was previously named as its Co-Landman of the Year (2020). She also served as the secretary, vice president and president of the South Louisiana Chapter of Women’s Energy Network. And she is a co-chair for the 6th National Young Energy Professional Conference hosted by the Institute for Energy Law, which will be held in October 2022. She is listed in The Best Lawyers in America®. During law school, Kelly interned for Chief Judge Burrell J. Carter of the Louisiana First Circuit Court of Appeal. Kelly received her J.D. from the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center and her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the Grady College of Journalism at the University of Georgia.
