ACC AlabamaFinancial statements are the language of business. As in-house counsel, knowing how to read financial statements allows you to better understand your business and, ultimately, provide better legal counsel to your company. This program will provide an introduction to reading financial statements for lawyers, focusing on information that is most relevant to legal practice. It will also flag areas where lawyers can provide the most value when helping prepare financial statements. No math or accounting background is needed to read and speak knowledgeably about financial statements once you learn the concepts covered in this program.
Speakers
Stephen Hinton represents public companies from a variety of industries on corporate and securities matters, including SEC filings, securities offerings, and mergers and acquisitions. He also regularly advises private companies and companies preparing to go public on their corporate and securities needs.
Stephen’s experience includes advising clients in connection with public and private offerings, corporate governance, joint ventures, takeover defenses, compliance with stock exchange listing standards, and private equity and venture capital investments. In addition, Stephen has represented a number of public companies in their response to activist shareholders.
Mary Nobles Hancock is an associate in the Bradley’s Corporate and Securities Practice Group. Her practice is focused on advising public and private companies in a variety of corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, business entity formation, securities offerings and compliance, financing transactions, and corporate reorganizations.
