Career Advancement Toolkit - Moving into Leadership
May 13th, 2021 | 4:00 - 6:00 pm

Join the Houston ACC Chapter and Gibson Arnold & Associates for a lively discussion on Moving Into Leadership. This panel discussion will provide members with tools and exercises in an interactive session.

Moving Into Leadership

• How do lawyers become General Counsel?
• When do companies promote within and when do they look outside?
• What skills do I need to become a leader in my organization?
• I feel stagnant in my growth. How do I move the needle?
• I am in a large department and there are limited opportunities for growth. How do I communicate with my leadership team on my goals without being viewed negatively?
• I am an individual contributor, lead a small team, or my legal department has a flat structure. How do I demonstrate leadership skills?

Presentation Description:
This session is a panel of General Counsel and Human Resource executives, coming together to discuss their own experiences coming into leadership, as well as what skills are needed to become a leader in an organization. You will learn how to develop a personal network both inside and outside of your organization, as well as how you can leverage professional organizations such as the Association of Corporate Counsel, the International Bar Association, the National Association of Corporate Directors, and others like them to further your professional development.
