Overview (Program Summary)
A program hosted by:
ACC ChicagoOne of ACC Chicago’s most popular events, the Clinic in a Box® program allows you to use your skills to do pro bono while earning CLE credit!
In response to the #MeToo movement, Illinois recently passed a wide-ranging bill that applies to all Illinois employers. Illinois’ new Workplace Transparency Act, effective January 1, 2020, significantly restricts the use of non-disclosure and non-disparagement provisions in employment agreements, separation agreements and settlement agreements; limits an employer’s ability to unilaterally require certain terms (e.g. arbitration) as a condition of employment, mandates employers conduct sexual harassment training for all employees; expands the prohibition of harassment and other discrimination under the Illinois Human Rights Act; and creates annual training and disclosure requirements to the Illinois Department of Human Rights.
Join us as a volunteer attorney at this legal clinic for nonprofits. You will receive training and work in teams to review a nonprofit’s EEO and sexual harassment policies, and to provide guidance on how to comply with the new law.
Professional liability coverage is provided for all participating attorneys.
