Whilst people movement is on pause, movement of goods and services continues, perhaps more essential than ever. We will be talking about some of the hot legal issues, including brand reputation and IP protection, and managing insolvency, product liability, dispute and corruption risks.


Speakers

Selwyn Black, Partner - Carroll & O'Dea

Selwyn is a graduate of the University of New South Wales having completed a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Financial Management), and a Bachelor of Laws degree. He  also holds a Master of Laws degree from the University of Sydney, majoring in commercial and administrative law. He is, with Peter Carroll, a co-editor for Butterworths of the AEFP Chapter on trust law precedents. He sits on the Business Law subcommittee of the New South Wales Law Society’s Specialist Accreditation Board. He has been a speaker at several conferences including in relation to transaction due diligence, and compliance issues for unions. He has also acted as an expert witness and often receives referrals from other lawyers.

Selwyn has particular expertise in the establishment sale, purchase and restructuring of companies, trusts and businesses, commercial agreements, pharmaceutical,  food,  media,  IT, engineering  and transport industry issues, finance, and in the commercial resolution of business, shareholder and partnership  disputes.

He has also provided legal advice to a range of developers and investors and has undertaken an extensive range of hotel, shopping centre, and other property related work, including major purchases, sales, joint ventures, leases and management agreements. He has particular expertise in Trust and Estate Law issues and fiduciary recoveries.
