ACC Houston

ACC Houston September Chapter Meeting CLE
September 15, 2020 | 12 noon – 1 pm | 1.00 hours CLE (Includes 0.25 hours Ethics credits) TX
Topic: Houston, We Have a Problem: Agents With Badges are at the Front Door.
The Basics for Companies in Responding to a Government Investigation.

Description: The early morning call from a plant manager that armed federal agents showed up at a facility at dawn in raid jackets and are now digging through old records, access the company’s servers and pulling select employees into a room for one-on-one interviews can be unnerving for even the more experienced in-house lawyer.  This program is aimed at easing those nerves by walking the audience through the basics of the investigative process and familiarizing the audience with the critical legal and ethical issues that inevitably arise in the early reactive moments of a governmental investigation.  The presenters will then provide some tips for in-house lawyers to work with their corporate clients proactively to develop a government-investigation response plan.  Finally, the program will touch upon at a high-level the possible outcomes of a federal investigation for a corporate client, as that is always behind the two ultimate questions every in-house lawyer receives from management and the board:  When will this be over and how do you think this will end up?
