Overview (Program Summary)
A program hosted by:
ACC National Capital RegionAcross our profession, attorneys can face ethical dilemmas at any given time. What constitutes attorney-client privilege (in a world where business advice may be blended with legal advice)? How do you recognize and handle a conflict of interest internally or with your outside counsel? What is an impermissible gift/favor/entertainment when interacting with public officials or business partners? What are your responsibilities to the company versus the people and executives in the company? How do you decide when to initiate an internal investigation? How do you create a culture of ethical compliance? What is the interplay between technology and ethics? When does good advocacy become unethical or illegal conduct? When do I have to “report up”? In a world where whistleblowers and media and government investigations are becoming more commonplace, and the federal government is pursuing individual responsibility for corporate crimes, now more than ever, in-house counsel need to be prepared for these tough situations and need to have the foresight to handle them correctly and ethically, while adhering to the Standards of Professional Conduct.
We will follow Taylor Truth through another one of her nightmarish days and evaluate her options as she faces some real life challenges facing her growing company in a challenging and competitive marketplace. After this two hour course, we promise you’ll wonder where the time went and leave with an ethically charged confidence (and CLE credit).
