Overview (Program Summary)

A program hosted by:

ACC Tennessee

Join ACC TN and Ogletree Deakins shareholders Jonathan Harris and Jennifer Rusie as they discuss hot topics in employment law. These timely subjects will include the following:

How has the #MeToo movement affected harassment investigations? What has been the broader effect of #MeToo on employment trials generally?
In 2018, the Supreme Court reaffirmed that arbitration agreements with class and collective action waivers are indeed enforceable. What should employers consider when deliberating on whether to implement an arbitration program? The Americans with Disabilities Act ("ADA") continues to vex employers. Recent court decisions do not make it any easier for an employer to navigate the ADA, particularly when it comes to providing leave as an accommodation. What is more, companies are now facing a new wave of litigation over their websites and whether they are accessible to those with disabilities.

Speakers

Jonathan Harris, managing partner of the Nashville office of Ogletree Deakins, defends single-plaintiff lawsuits and represents employers in class and collective actions. In addition to defending single-plaintiff lawsuits, Mr. Harris also represents employers in class and collective actions. He has handled countless EEOC charges and defended employers in lawsuits brought by the EEOC, including matters where the agency has asserted systemic claims on behalf of multiple claimants.

Jennifer Rusie represents management in the area of labor and employment law with an emphasis on employment litigation, including cases involving Title VII, the ADAAA, ADEA, FMLA, FLSA, common law wrongful termination, and restrictive covenants. Approximately half of Jennifer's practice is devoted to Title III of the ADA – both architectural issues and website accessibility. Jennifer has extensive experience investigating and litigating issues of sexual harassment in the workplace.
