Overview (Program Summary)
A program hosted by:
ACC AustinVolunteer Legal Services hosts an evening clinic (VLS Clinic) to provide legal advice to low-income clients. Our volunteer attorneys conduct interviews to help attendees get their cases referred to Legal Aid or VLS for representation. For those attendees whose cases do not qualify, the volunteer attorneys provide very basic legal advice.
Things to remember
- You do not need to be Texas licensed to volunteer (You will be paired with an attorney who is Texas licensed.)
- Malpractice insurance provided by VLS
- No expertise is required
- Training is provided before and during the clinic
- You can shadow an experienced attorney for as long as you need
