Overview (Program Summary)
A program hosted by:
ACC National Capital RegionThanks to Guidestar, Pro Publica, Charity Navigator, and other sources, tax-exempt organizations’ returns (Forms 990, 990-PF, 990-T) are readily available to the public for free. In addition to the fundamental tax compliance function, nonprofit organization executives—including CFOs and GCs—should treat the Form 990 as a potentially helpful public relations tool. However, it can be overwhelming especially to in-house lawyers that are having to review/understand the 990 for the first time or as part of their ongoing duties.
Please join us as we consider the Form 990 from the perspectives of your important stakeholders: donors/funders, members, prospective board members and executives, news media, potential opposition (for issue advocacy organizations), and of course, the IRS agent assigned to conduct your next audit.
Speakers
Presented by Diara Holmes and Marcus Owens, Partners with Loeb & Loeb LLP; Sharon Nokes, Director, Legal Affairs and Associate General Counsel with The Pew Charitable Trusts; and Preston Quesenberry, Managing Director, Tax Exempt Organizations with KPMG (US).
Notes
Lunch will be served at 12:00 p.m. The program will begin at 12:30 pm.
