ACC today announced newly elected officers and directors of the 2017 ACC global board of directors.

WASHINGTON (October 17, 2016) — The Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC), a global legal association representing more than 40,000 in-house counsel in 85 countries, today announced newly elected officers and directors of the 2017 ACC global board of directors.

“As we enter the next phase of our five-year strategic plan, the diverse backgrounds and perspectives of our newly-elected directors and officers will strengthen our ability to serve ACC’s global membership,” said Veta T. Richardson, president and CEO of ACC. “We are delighted to have such an exceptional group of leaders to chart the association’s future.”

The 2017 ACC global board of directors include general counsel and chief legal officers spanning Fortune 500 and Global 1000 companies. The 2017 officers are as follows:

  • Iohann Le Frapper, general counsel, ChetWode (chair)
  • William Mordan, executive vice president, general counsel & company secretary, Shire plc (vice-chair)
  • Jan Robey Alonzo, former chief legal officer & chief administrator, UniGroup, Inc. (treasurer)
  • Simon A. Fish, executive vice president and general counsel, Bank of Montreal (secretary)

“Whether it be differing legal systems, business practices, or cultural differences, we as legal and business professionals need to adapt to the unparalleled pace of changes impacting all industry sectors,” said Iohann Le Frapper, general counsel at ChetWode. “As chair, I am excited to spearhead ACC’s strategic goals and boost the professional day-to-day efficiency of in-house lawyers to enhance their capabilities amid a more global and connected world.”

Le Frapper has wealth of global and regional experience with corporate and commercial transactions across the Europe, the Middle East, Africa, the Asia-Pacific region, and the United States. Currently, he runs the law department at ChetWode, a company specializing in strategic industrial asset financing (namely leasing and sale and leaseback transactions). Prior, he led the legal department at Gulf Bridge International, where he offered counsel on corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, compliance, litigation, and employment matters, among other issues. Le Frapper has also worked for companies in the telecommunications and oil and gas sectors in China, Qatar, and France.

As a former president of ACC Europe, Le Frapper played a vital role in providing European in-house counsel with resources, educational programs, and practice tools to thrive as in-house lawyers.
