WASHINGTON (October 16, 2017) — The Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC), a global legal association representing more than 43,000 in-house counsel in 85 countries, recognized members, chapters, and committees who have demonstrated unparalleled leadership, service, and commitment to the in-house counsel community this week during the 2017 ACC Annual Meeting in Washington, DC.

"Our volunteer leaders are essential to the association's success and ability to thrive worldwide," said Veta T. Richardson, ACC president and CEO. "Whether through pro bono and diversity initiatives or membership recruitment and innovative programming efforts, this year's award recipients have played an important role in driving change within the global legal and business community."

Presented at the Annual Meeting Leadership Awards Ceremony on October 15 and General Luncheon on October 17, the 2017 award winners are as follows:

  • Robert I. Townsend, Jr. Member of the Year Award: Troy Swan, head of legal and company secretary at Winc (Formerly Staples – Australia & New Zealand)
  • Matthew J. Whitehead, II Diversity Award: Mastercard Law Department
  • ACC Corporate Pro Bono Award: Exxon Mobil Corporation's Pro Bono Program
  • Jonathan S. Silber Committee Member of the Year Award: Dawn Haghighi, general counsel at PCV Murcor Real Estate Services, VRM Mortgage Services and Hightide Settlement Services
  • Outstanding Committee of the Year Award (Small/Large Categories): ACC Health Law Committee and ACC Employment & Labor Committee
  • Outstanding Committee Sponsor of the Year Award: Foley & Lardner LLP
  • Outstanding Chapter Achievement Award (Innovative Programming Effort; Best Membership Recruitment/Retention Plan Implemented; Best Partnership Program; Best Diversity Initiative Categories): ACC South/Central Texas, ACC Kentucky, ACC Louisiana, ACC Israel, ACC Colorado, ACC St. Louis, ACC San Francisco Bay Area, ACC Southern California, and ACC New Jersey
