ACC Europe announced that Christopher Murphy Ives of Hewlett Packard Enterprise was elected president of the ACC Europe board of directors.

GENEVA, SWITZERLAND (13 November 2017) — The Association of Corporate Counsel Europe (ACC Europe), which serves the needs of more than 2,400 lawyers practicing in corporations and other organizations throughout Europe, announced that Christopher Murphy Ives, Vice President and Deputy General Counsel, Global Sales, EMEA & Americas at Hewlett Packard Enterprise, was elected president of the ACC Europe board of directors.

As president of the ACC Europe board of directors, Murphy Ives will lead the chapter's efforts to increase membership, focus on access to relevant substantive legal content in the European context and skill development offerings, and take an active role in advocacy on issues relevant to in-house lawyers across the continent.

"In Europe, we have the considerable benefit of a loyal and enthusiastic member base, said Murphy Ives. "In the year to come, we have an exciting opportunity to consolidate on the strengths of the past and to build ACC Europe as the preeminent association for in-house counsel in Europe, so more members can benefit from the advantages of being a part of the largest association of in-house counsel in the world."

At Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Murphy Ives leads the in-house team supporting Global Sales in Europe, Africa, Middle East and the Americas. He joined the company in 2000 when he founded the Corporate, Securities, M&A Legal team in EMEA — working on a variety of public and private M&A transactions and tax restructuring plans. From 2009 to 2013, he led the in-house team in Asia Pacific and Japan. It was at that time that he helped found the ACC Chapter in Singapore. Prior to joining Hewlett Packard Enterprise, he worked at various law firms in Paris, Geneva, and Toronto.

In addition to Murphy Ives, new officers elected the ACC Europe board of directors are the following:

  • Maria Pernas, executive Vice President and Group General Counsel, Capgemini (vice president)
  • Wolf Frenkel, Director and Group General Counsel, BearingPoint Service GmbH (secretary)
  • George Liakopoulos, Group General Counsel, Piraeus Bank SA (treasurer)

Topics at upcoming ACC Europe programmes include EU competition law (Luxembourg, 29 November) and shareholders agreements (Vienna, 30 November), as well as the ACC Europe Annual Conference (Paris, 20-22 May).
