Europe's largest dedicated conference to in-house lawyers, includes 25 substantive sessions across three tracks.

PARIS (10 April 2018) — With sessions on cybersecurity, blockchain, competition law, and legal operations, the Association of Corporate Counsel Europe (ACC Europe) will host its Annual Conference, this year themed, "The Legal Profession in the New Economy - Developing Leadership for Uncertain Times," 20-22 May in Paris.

The conference, Europe's largest dedicated to in-house lawyers, includes 25 substantive sessions across three tracks: "lead the law," "lead the business," and "lead yourself." Ten of the 25 programmes are "law labs," small group sessions that promote peer interaction on particular topics of interest, such as social media crisis management, doing business in Asia, and joining a start up. In addition, delegates will have networking opportunities with in-house lawyers from approximately 30 countries.

"The ACC Europe Annual Conference responds to the multifaceted role of the modern in-house lawyer," said Christopher Murphy Ives, ACC Europe president and VP, Deputy General Counsel, Legal Department Chief of Staff and responsible for Global Sales, EMEA & Americas at Hewlett Packard Enterprise. "We've worked to ensure that the conference provides the substantive updates in-house legal teams need to ensure their practice is current, as well as programming focused on the other equally important corporate legal roles: serving as trusted business advisers and corporate leaders."

The opening plenary, "Securing a Seat at the Table," focuses on the general counsel's access to the CEO and the board of directors. Leaders from the in-house community will speak on how a permanent seat at the executive table sets the right "tone from the top" for an ethical, compliant corporate culture. Speakers for the opening plenary include:

  • Bill Mordan, chair of the ACC global board of directors and general counsel & company secretary, Shire Pharmaceuticals
  • Sabine Chalmers, 2015-2016 chair of the ACC global board of directors, group general counsel, BT Group plc, and independent director, Coty, Inc.
  • Veta T. Richardson, ACC president & CEO
  • Craig W. Budner, global client development, recruitment and integration partner, K&L Gates (facilitator)

Other sessions feature faculty from Alitalia, Amazon, Anheuser-Busch InBev, Citrix, Coca-Cola, Deutsche Bahn AG, Facebook, Google, GSK, IBM, PWC, Total, and other corporations and organisations from across Europe and around the globe.
