As artificial intelligence, and generative AI in particular, becomes an indispensable technology for companies and consumers, businesses need to be aware of the fast-changing legal and regulatory environment governing the use of AI, as well as mindful of the commercial and litigation risks of adopting this technology.

Through a panel discussion featuring the perspectives of Practical Law subject matter experts and in-house counsel, this one-hour session will cover the latest developments and legal issues for companies to navigate in this rapidly evolving area.

Topics will include:

  • Recent legal developments in AI regulation and how the landscape is evolving.
  • Data privacy, IP, commercial, and employment law issues to consider when using generative AI.
  • Managing liability and risk when using AI systems.

Are you a veteran?  Please join us to plan and learn more about our newest ACC NCR Affinity Group for those who have served in any capacity, or maybe are still serving now, in one of our nation's service branches. Whether you served as a Judge Advocate (attorney), a legal professional, or in any other capacity on land, at sea, in the air, or in space - WE WANT YOU!

Bring your lunch and join us virtually to meet fellow Veteran ACC NCR members who are forming this affinity group.  Even if you are not able to join us for the full hour, please try to drop in to let us know who you are and what types of events or programs you might be interested in.  We will form a contact list, discuss possible names for our group, and think about what goals we may want to set for ourselves related to forming new connections and networking.

We look forward to virtually connecting with you for an enriching discussion!

As a member of the in-house community, we would love to have you attend and “Meet Your Counterparts with Armstrong Teasdale” at this unique culinary feast at NO COST TO YOU. Join us for this special Global Membership Month event to explore the significant savings in time, expense and effort enjoyed by all ACC members – and have FUN doing it!

As we network with our counterparts, we will be tasting different wines during a three-course sit-down dinner, but this event can’t happen without you! We look forward to seeing you there.

Since space is limited for this event, so please only register if you are very sure that you will be able to attend. We also ask for at least 48 hours’ notice of cancellation, in order to accommodate others who may be on a waiting list.

You are encouraged to bring a prospective member to this event (free of charge!). They must be registered separately under the Non-Member option.

ACC Ontario and Bennett Jones LLP invite you to join us for an in-person discussion on supply chain transparency and what the new public reporting requirements in Canada's new Supply Chains Act mean for businesses.

The new Supply Chains Act introduces a mandatory requirement for many companies to file public reports disclosing what they do to prevent and reduce the risk of forced labour and child labour in their supply chains. Together with Canada's existing prohibition on the importation of goods made with forced labour or child labour, this new requirement facilitates the increasingly intense scrutiny of supply chains by the public, stakeholders, and regulators.

With the first reports due in May 2024, companies need to act now to enhance their due diligence and proactively identify and mitigate the risk of forced labour or child labour in their supply chains.

The session will include an interactive discussion facilitated by Faithlyn Hemmings of GM Canada, on the professionalism challenges facing in-house counsel, including how to communicate legal risks and obligations to internal stakeholders and how to secure buy-in for required process changes or investments.
