An Update on Non-Competition Agreements: Do Non-Competes Have a Future?
Description:
For years employers have utilized covenants, including non-competition provisions, to protect confidential information, customer relationships, and investments in specialized training to prevent unfair competition by former employees. In recent years, state law governing non-competes has evolved. Some states through legislation have made non-competes enforceable subject to certain time and geographic restrictions while others have placed significant restrictions on their use. In January 2023, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) proposed a Rule to Ban Non-Competes. This program, presented by Greg Grisham of Fisher Phillips, will review recent developments in non-compete law and consider the FTC’s Proposed Rule and its implications for companies.
Mark your calendar for Tuesday, June 27, 2023. We'll gather at Fhima's* in downtown Minneapolis to greet the arrival of summer, catch up with ACC colleagues, and sample tasty bites and beverages.
Remember: the point of an ACC MN Networking Social is to gather new perspectives and ideas from peers, to exchange information regarding challenges, experiences and goals, and to simultaneously develop long-lasting friendships!
The event is open to ACC members and to in-house counsel first-time guests.
Attendees can receive complimentary valet parking at the restaurant (if so requested during registration).
* Fhima's is an iconic art deco restaurant and bar owned by renowned chef David Fhima.
Please join Paul Plevin Quarles and ACC San Diego for an interactive panel discussion addressing the ways in which in-house counsel can be a strategic partner to promote DEI initiatives and broad leadership across all business units of the company and engaged beyond the legal work. During this program, our panel of San Diego in-house generals counsel will provide insight on how they have created pathways for success to attract and retain diverse legal professionals in rewarding careers in San Diego, and also how they have proactively aligned with company executives to support DEI while adding value to the business units.
At the conclusion of this program, attendees will come away with real-world examples that they may choose to integrate into their in-house legal department processes.
