Michael McLaws is a multi-disciplined lawyer, business partner, and executive leader with a passion for practicing law differently. Michael brings a uniquely commercial approach to his work by leveraging an earlier career in industry and skills as a certified Project Management Professional (PMP/PMI).
As part of Seqwater’s senior leadership team, Michael leads Seqwater’s corporate governance, ethics and business integrity, information privacy, and document management functions, while supporting the Board and Executive team. He also provides support as deputy to the General Counsel and Company Secretary.
Since joining Seqwater in 2019, Michael has led several initiatives to create or improve existing governance and compliance controls, eliminate unnecessary bureaucracy, and increase the use of digital technology to create process improvements and drive operational efficiencies. Over the past 18 months, Michael partnered with the Board and Executive to lead the development and delivery of an Integrated Management System Framework for Seqwater’s four ISO certified management systems (9001, 45001, 14001, 22000), an online interactive corporate governance framework for employees, and enhanced corporate reporting including Seqwater’s first corporate governance statement.
Prior to his current role, Michael was in private practice in Australia and Canada, and is a dual qualified lawyer in both countries.
