A program hosted by:
ACC San Francisco Bay AreaPlease join ACC SFBA on the Zoom platform for the Legal Compliance Clinic for 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations. This event is presented by Cleary Gottlieb and organized in conjunction with the Justice & Diversity Center’s Community Organization Representation Project (“CORP”).
- 1:30 – 2:30 pm: Volunteer training (1 Hour CA CLE)
- 2:30– 3:00 pm: Break; volunteers meet with teammates in breakout rooms and review materials
- 3:00 – 5:00 pm: Consultations with nonprofits
The virtual legal clinic is intended to help nonprofits serving our communities flag legal issues before they become problems. For the first hour of the clinic, attorneys will attend a 1.0 hour CLE training providing an overview of the potential legal issues that may arise. Then we will break into teams to work with an assigned nonprofit client and run through a checklist covering nonprofit legal compliance issues, such as corporate governance policies that should be in place.
The volunteer commitment is limited to the training and clinic time, but CORP will then try to provide referrals for any legal issues identified.
All ACC members are welcome, regardless of your level of experience - you do not have to be an employment attorney to participate, and you are not required to provide pro bono services to your assigned clients after this event.
*Please note: In order to participate, volunteer attorneys must be licensed in the state of California for insurance purposes.
