ACC North FloridaAI, Ethics, and the In-House Lawyer: Guardrails, Governance, and What Comes Next
Artificial intelligence is now embedded in legal workflows, but ethical guidance has struggled to keep pace. This presentation examines how courts, bar authorities, and professional liability carriers are responding to AI use in legal practice, with a specific focus on in-house counsel’s oversight role. Attendees will leave with practical guardrails and tools they can immediately apply within their organizations. Using real-world examples, ethics opinions, and emerging enforcement trends, this CLE will explore:
- What ethical duties already apply to AI use, even when no AI-specific rule exists
- Where attorneys and companies have gotten into trouble (and why)
- What governance and compliance frameworks are emerging as best practices
- What changes may be coming in 2026 and how legal departments should prepare now
