Overview (Program Summary)

ACC National Capital RegionVolunteer for a Virtual Immigration Pro Bono Clinic with Ayuda
Topic: Brief immigration advice and referral.
Partners: Ayuda
Clients: Low-income immigrants with humanitarian and family-based immigration questions.
When: Friday, April 10 from 9:15 AM to 3PM. Clinic overview and Q&A from 9:15 AM to 10:00 AM. Client meetings will run from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM and 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM. Upon registration, volunteers can select one or both sessions.
Where: Virtual via Zoom
Who: In-House attorneys. Attorneys may be paired up.
Experience: No specific training required
Training: 45-minute overview and training held at 9:15 AM.
Support: Ayuda pro bono staff will be present in each Zoom breakout room. You will have access to Ayuda mentors and interpretation services.
Time: Client meeting and preparation of documents generally takes no longer than 2 hours to 2.5 hours.
Work: Volunteers will conduct consultations with carefully crafted questionnaires to collect relevant information from the client. Upon completion, volunteers will discuss the case with Ayuda immigration experts and formulate an advice plan to share with the client. The goal is for the client to walk away with answers to three questions: What is their current immigration status? What can they do to change their status if that is their goal? What are their next steps and referrals?
