Overview (Program Summary)

A program hosted by:

ACC Northeast

AI is transforming the way businesses operate, but with great innovation comes even greater legal complexity. ACC Northeast is pleased to announce "Unlocking the Algorithm," a half-day summit designed specifically for in-house counsel, exploring the opportunities and challenges of AI in corporate environments. From understanding the current AI landscape to tackling the risks of adoption, and finally navigating the aftermath when things go wrong, this program equips legal professionals with the insights they need to stay ahead of the curve. The program will include the opportunity to network and knowledge share with peers throughout the day during three distinct sessions, starting with breakfast and culminating in a networking lunch.

AGENDA:
  • 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. – Registration & Breakfast (Exterro)

  • 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. –  Session I (Ankura)

  • 10:15 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. – BREAK

  • 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. – Session II (Dentons)

  • 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – Session III (Hinckley Allen)

  • 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. – LUNCH & Discussion (Beacon Hill Legal)

Session I - AI Today: Transforming the Law Department

Kick off the day by diving into the ever-expanding role of AI in the legal department, sponsored by Ankura.  This session sets the stage by examining how businesses and their in-house teams are leveraging AI tools and the specific use cases for the technology.  From streamlining legal operations to uncovering efficiencies in the contract review process, understand the key drivers and opportunities behind AI adoption, the skills legal professionals need to thrive—and the legal and ethical challenges lurking beneath the surface.

Session II - Integrating AI: Risks, Rights, and Red Flags

AI promises innovation, but it’s not without its pitfalls.  This session, sponsored by Dentons, takes a hard look at the complexities of adopting AI in the workplace, from implementing internal controls, protecting intellectual property, setting up contractual safeguards, and addressing data privacy and information security risks.  What are the red flags to watch for?  How can businesses safeguard their data and their reputation?  Do businesses own what they create?  Arm yourself with the knowledge to guide your organization through the minefield of AI integration, from organizational AI concept exploration to mature policy, governance and compliance to stay ahead of the evolving legal and regulatory risks.

Session III - When AI Goes Wrong: Clean-up and Litigation

What happens when AI misses the mark—or causes real harm?  This session, sponsored by Hinkley Allen, explores the aftermath of AI failures, focusing on mitigation strategies, the impact on employment and regulatory considerations, and the role of AI in litigation.  Learn how to identify and address breaches, disputes, employment and regulatory claims, or liabilities stemming from AI use and bias, and uncover how AI itself is shaping the future of litigation practice.

Lunch Discussion - The Algorithm Unlocked: Bringing It All Together

After the summit’s three sessions, join the ACC Northeast Chapter and our lunch sponsor, Beacon Hill Legal, for a networking lunch.  This networking lunch will allow attendees to connect around common takeaways of the summit and leave with new professional connections.
