ACC ChicagoUCC Article 9-406 plays a pivotal role in modern secured transactions. Our speakers will clarify how and when account debtors must honor assignments, what constitutes proper notification, and why certain contractual restrictions on assignment are rendered ineffective. The session will include real-world examples and hypotheticals to illustrate common pitfalls and best practices.
Speakers
John M. Riccione is a partner in Taft’s Litigation practice. His practice involves the representation of businesses in a wide array of complex commercial disputes, including commercial and supply-chain transactions, UCC warranties and remedies, real estate, construction claims, trade secrets, computer fraud and abuse and labor and employment. He is a frequent speaker on the topics of Uniform Commercial Code remedies, contract interpretation as well as other commercial disputes.
William J. Serritella Jr. is the co-chairman of Taft’s Firmwide Litigation Department. He is a commercial litigator who focuses his practice on banking, commercial and appellate litigation. Bill lectures on numerous topics, including commercial real estate workouts, Uniform Commercial Code issues, trial practice, appellate practice, contract law, sales commission protection acts, employment discrimination and alternative billing practices.
Brianna M. Skelly is a partner in Taft’s Litigation group, focusing her practice on complex commercial litigation. Brianna represents creditors, businesses and individuals in litigation arising from commercial transactions, employment matters and warranties.
David G. Susler (Chicago program) - is Associate General Counsel for National Material L.P., a privately held, minority owned manufacturing company, with operating companies throughout the U.S., Mexico, Canada and China. He has been with NMLP since 2007 and has practiced in-house since May 1999. Previously, David was in private practice for 12 years, focusing primarily on litigation.
Elizabeth Winkowski is an experienced litigator in Taft Chicago’s Commercial Litigation practice group, focusing her practice on complex civil litigation. She has successfully represented a wide range of clients—from private companies to municipal corporations and other public entities—at all stages of litigation in both state and federal court.
