Session One:

Game-Changing Skills for Interview and Offer Negotiation Success. 

This interactive session will equip you with skills to stand out during interviews and effectively navigate job offers. Whether you are a 1L, 2L, or recent graduate, mastering the interview process is critical to securing your first legal position. The session will provide actionable strategies, valuable resources, and practical advice to help you avoid common pitfalls and prepare with confidence. Topics will include building and leveraging your network, resume and impact statement tips, handling tough interview questions, preparing insightful questions for interviewers, understanding experiential interview expectations, and navigating various interview formats—from screening and job fairs to Zoom, in-person, and callback interviews. You will also learn best practices for interview follow-up and responding to offers.

 

Guest Speakers:

  • Dawn Haghighi, is an independent board director for Elevate and general counsel for Murcor Real Estate, adjunct professor USC Gould School of Law, adjunct professor LMU Loyola Law School, business school lecturer, ACC Leader, global business, trade association and not for profit leader and board member including the FBI Los Angeles Citizens Academy Board of Directors. She previously held senior legal roles at Princess Cruises, RBS/Citizens, and Nordstrom. Ms. Haghighi recently presented her first TED Talk:  Say Hello to Your Better Self: Going from the Ordinary to the Extraordinary. She is an Inaugural Member Of The 50 Women To Watch In North America For Public Company Board Service.
  • Peter Steckelman, leads Tennis Channel’s Business & Legal Affairs team as its Senior Vice President. Prior to Tennis Channel, Peter served in similar capacities in the general entertainment and consumer products industries. Peter currently serves on the Board of Directors of Phoenix House California as well as on ACC SoCal’s Board of Directors. Additionally, he is the current Vice-Chair of ACC’s Network Leadership Council.
