Overview (Program Summary)
This program will provide an in-house perspective by Tara Young on the pressures to employ artificial intelligence for cost and work efficiency while balancing the risks associated therewith. Litigation counsel Louis Grossman will discuss the professional responsibilities that lawyers have to learn and keep up with new technology in the practice of law, while highlighting some of the ways that AI can and is being employed to streamline workflows. Thomson Reuters representative Aimee Bain will spotlight some tools that mitigate against some of the risks associated with AI, including how to check and prevent the feared phantom citation. Intellectual Property attorney Devin Ricci will then discuss how the use of artificial intelligence may impact the ownership of IP rights in work product and discuss some “don’ts” to safeguard confidential information.
