Overview (Program Summary)
A program hosted by:
ACC ChicagoPlease join us for a presentation on the ever-evolving privacy laws that impact Illinois employers, followed by a chocolate and wine tasting. Best practices pair with the management of employees’ personal data like fine wine pairs with chocolate.
Illinois has adopted several privacy protection statutes that regulate the use of wide-ranging personal data, including biometric and genetic information. This panoply of laws has sparked a rise in class action lawsuits, along with debate about potential amendments to the statutes. Amid all of this, business leaders and HR professionals are tasked with making sense of the regulations and implementing compliant policies for the collection and use of sensitive information.
This one-hour CLE program will examine Illinois’ privacy protections and explore important lessons learned – sometimes the hard way. Attendees will acquire a better understanding of the key pitfalls concerning the management of private data under BIPA, GIPA, and PIPA, along with the best practices that companies can implement to avoid consequences.
A chocolate and wine tasting will follow the program. Chocolates provided by local female-owned company Vosges Haut Chocolat.
