Overview (Program Summary)

A program hosted by:

ACC St. Louis

Join the ACC St. Louis and Washington University Olin Business School for a half day program on Influencing Positive Corporate Culture on Friday, April 12th at the Knight Center at Washington University.

Today's corporate attorneys are frequently called upon to make critical decisions that impact many different stakeholders. These high-risk, high-opportunity decisions are often made under considerable time pressure. How much weight do we give to analytics and data versus experience, emotion and intuition?

Session #1:  Informal Leadership with Dr. Ashley Hardin

  • Exercising leadership requires more than just a worthy goal or a good idea.  It also requires an understanding of how things really get done in organizations and how you can influence people both within and outside your chain of command in order to gain support and overcome resistance.  In other words, it requires skill at leading through influence.   This workshop will help you develop the three key skills of leading through influence: a) navigating politics, b) understanding power, and c) exercising influence.

Session #2:  Behavioral Design Thinking with Elanor Williams

  • Badly designed decisions or poorly worded messages can prevent people from making good choices. Fortunately, the ways in which people are most likely to be confused, overwhelmed, or led astray can be understood and anticipated, and these insights can be an asset to businesses and policymakers looking to improve decision making.  This session will teach you to apply behavioral science to how you structure and present everyday decisions, to help those around you to make better choices as consumers, as employees, and as citizens.
