A program hosted by:

ACC Georgia

Join ACC Georgia and Womble Bond Dickinson as Joe Whitley, Former Homeland Security General Counsel and Womble Bond Dickinson partner, and Anna Burton, GEMA (Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency) General Counsel, discuss her agency’s legal and operational roles in disaster prevention, response and recovery in Georgia, and nationally in partnership with FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency).

Speakers

Joe Whitley represents clients nationally and internationally in a variety of white-collar matters including corporate internal investigations, regulatory enforcement, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and export controls compliance, corporate compliance, health care fraud and FDA-related matters, securities fraud, criminal antitrust, financial institution fraud, public corruption and campaign finance, and commercial bribery.  In addition to his years of private practice experience, Joe has served in several high-level roles with the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Anna Burton joined the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency as Deputy General Counsel and currently serves as General Counsel as of August 2021.  Born and raised in Alpharetta, Georgia, she holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and International Affairs, and a Juris Doctorate, both from the University of Georgia.  Directly after law school, Anna worked as an attorney in the Office of the Georgia Secretary of State under Brad Raffensperger, where she practiced election law and helped roll out a new election system.

Notes

Thanks to Womble Bond Dickinson, the CLE lunch program is complimentary for the first 130 ACC members who register on-line.  Thereafter, the fee for current ACC members is $25, and, in all circumstances, $35 for non-members, including prospective members.  A CLE credit of one (1) hour is being applied for, and if approved, will be submitted to the Georgia State Bar for attendees licensed to practice in Georgia.

While we understand that some "no shows" are unavoidable, we kindly ask that you please consider our speakers and hosts who have spent a considerable amount of time and resources to put this event on for you before deciding not to attend.  Good attendance helps ensure that ACC Georgia can continue to offer CLE programming and networking events at no cost to our ACC Georgia members.  If you need to cancel, we ask for 48 hours’ notice to georgia@accglobal.com.  ACC Georgia reserves the right to charge a fee for attendees who do not cancel.
