About the Program
FordHarrison invites ACC Tampa Bay members to join partner Shane Munoz and counsel Emily Chase-Sosnoff for a seminar that will provide both an overview of recent developments and emerging trends in labor & employment law, as well as a primer on improving the prospects for the best possible outcome
from mediations. Details on what will be covered are below. We hope you can join us!

2022 Labor & Employment Law Update
Emily and Shane will brief participants on current COVID-related workplace requirements, new state laws going into effect in 2022, and emerging legal trends in employment law nationwide. The presentation will cover the latest updates on COVID vaccine mandates, testing, and quarantine, as well as new state-specific laws that multi-state employers need to know about.

Mediation Bootcamp
Mediation is required before trial in all federal civil cases in the Middle District of Florida, and a high percentage of cases settle at mediation, which makes mediation a critical step in the litigation process. In this discussion, Shane, who is a seasoned mediator, will help you to learn how to conduct successful mediations, from planning and preparation to understanding the process and using it to your advantage. The session will cover:

  • Getting management buy-in;
  • Identifying interests and goals;
  • Partnering with outside counsel;
  • Selecting and educating the mediator;
  • Determining who should attend;
  • The uninvited guest;
  • The mediation process;
  • The opening caucus;
  • Selective disclosures;
  • Offers and demands;
  • Closing the door; and
  • Confidentiality.
