ACC GeorgiaBig data has become an engine of commerce as well as fuel to accelerate the innovation of new, artificial intelligence-powered products and services. From autonomous vehicles, to predictive algorithms to targeted marketing, companies across industries rely on big data to support their growth and development. However, the reliance on the collection and processing of large amounts of data comes with risks, as the legal landscape evolves to regulate and impose limitations on companies’ rights to use data-driven products and services.
The ACC Georgia Chapter welcomes Polsinelli whose attorneys, Brennan Carmody, Liz Harding and Leslie F. Spasser will present “Big Data and Privacy: Emerging Issues”. This panel will focus on recent case law and regulatory developments relating to the use of big data in three areas: geolocation, artificial intelligence and biometric authentication. Our speakers will discuss the use cases for tools and applications that employ these technologies as well as emerging issues and trends that in-house counsel should be aware of as they advise their clients on how to take advantage of the benefits and mitigate the risks associated with big data and the tools and applications it powers.
