Program Description:
Spencer Fane attorneys Julia Vander Weele and Greg Ash will discuss a range of ethics-related issues that can arise with regard to a company’s employee benefits and executive compensation programs. For example, the presentation will cover the fiduciary exception to attorney client privilege when it comes to navigating issues related to employee benefits, as well as an ethics discussion around work product doctrine and cybersecurity issues that arise when reaching outside of one’s area of expertise when practicing. In addition to these topics, Vander Weele, a former in-house attorney, and Ash, chair of the firm’s Employee Benefits practice, will address other emerging matters relevant to employee benefits, share case studies that highlight pitfalls companies can experience, and facilitate a Q&A with attendees on specific questions they have about their unique circumstances.
Topics included:
· Ethics-related issues that can arise with regard to a company’s employee benefits and executive compensation programs (20 minutes)
· Fiduciary exception to attorney client privilege when it comes to navigating issues related to employee benefits, as well as an ethics discussion around work product doctrine and cybersecurity issues that arise when reaching outside of one’s area of expertise when practicing (25 minutes)
· Emerging matters relevant to employee benefits (15 minutes)
We encourage members to bring an associate or colleague that may be interested in joining the ACC Mid-America Chapter. The Association of Corporate Counsel offers numerous benefits and resources to in-house counsel including CLE offerings and networking opportunities and we look forward to sharing that information with others in the field.
