Overview (Program Summary)
Domestic violence restraining orders issued by a court help keep abusers away from their victims. However, the domestic violence survivors who file petitions for such orders often need legal assistance to prepare a filing that will persuade the judge to rule in their favor. To address this need, LACLJ has created an online interview platform to facilitate these survivors getting the help they need with their petitions.
ACC-SoCal is partnering with Squire Patton Boggs in providing this critical assistance to victims of domestic violence by staffing LACLJ’s online interview platform the week of May 10, 2021.
The volunteers from ACC SoCal and Squire Patton Boggs will be “on call” during the evenings of Monday, May 10 through Thursday, May 13. We will need at least one ACC-SoCal volunteer per evening to split a shift with the Squire Patton Boggs volunteer. Each volunteer will work a 3 hour shift (4:00-7:00PM and 7:00PM to 10:00PM). The number of petitions reviewed per shift may vary from 0-5.
There will be a mandatory training for this pro bono event on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at 3PM. Attendees will receive 1.5 CLE credits for this training.
