A COLLABORATIVE EVENT WOMEN ON BOARDS: ELEVATING OUR PRESENCE

Join ACC Colorado and Stinson for an evening of learning about corporate board diversity, unconscious bias, and how women and diverse candidates can prepare for board opportunities and market themselves or colleagues for such opportunities.

Speakers include Dr. Stefanie Johnson, Jo Lynn Whiting, Barbara Bauer and executive women currently serving as corporate board members.

Dr. Johnson will provide opening remarks and share insights into her research on unconscious bias and how that affects the evaluation of candidates for boards of directors. Only 30 of the Fortune 500 companies have 30% women on their boards. Dr. Johnson has researched those 30 companies and will share her findings. Ms. Whiting and Ms. Bauer lead the board readiness program Boardbound and will provide current statistics on what boards are looking for in candidates and how to market yourself as a qualified board candidate.

Come learn what you can do to better position yourself to join a board!
Networking with food and drinks will follow!

Who Should Attend:  In House Female Attorneys, Executives, Board Members, General Counsels, Chief Legal Officers. No cost to attend - open to all ACC Members and their colleagues.

SPEAKERS

Dr. Johnson is an Associate Professor of Management at the University of Colorado, Boulder’s Leeds School of Business. Dr. Johnson studies the intersection of leadership and diversity, focusing on (1) how unconscious bias affects the evaluation of leaders and (2) strategies that leaders can use to mitigate bias. She has published over 70 journal articles and book chapters in outlets such as Harvard Business Review, Journal of Applied Psychology and The Academy of Management Journal.

Jo Lynn Whiting and Barbara Bauer are board members of the Women's Leadership Foundation, a foundation with the mission to open more board positions to women in Colorado and beyond.  BoardBound offers numerous programs and resources for women including programs for corporate board readiness, community board readiness and supporting CEOs in accelerating the proportion of women on corporate boards.
