Overview (Program Summary)

A program hosted by:

ACC Greater Philadelphia

The past three years have seen many fundamental changes in the U.S. export control, sanctions, and trade laws. As the reach of these laws and their complexity grows, it is ever more important for companies to understand them and how they may impact their operations and investments, both in the United States and globally.

During this event, we will provide an update on the “state of play” regarding various key trade law issues, detail the most significant changes on the horizon for 2020, and provide practical examples of how companies and investors can successfully navigate and reduce the many risks U.S. laws present while taking advantage of new opportunities.

Among the topics that will be covered are:

  • The scope and extent of U.S. sanctions laws regarding Iran, Cuba, Venezuela, Russia, and China in an era of “maximum pressure”
  • The latest Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) investment restrictions and export controls on “critical technologies” including 5G, internet-of-things (IoT), artificial intelligence, additive manufacturing, and advanced materials
  • Tariff and trade laws linked to U.S. “national security,” such as the Section 301 trade actions against China and the Section 232 tariffs on steel and aluminum
