ACC GeorgiaThe ACC Georgia Chapter welcomes Rittershaus whose Dr. Markus Bauer, Partner, will present “GDPR Revisited: Cross Border Data Transfer, Discovery, Enforcement Activities”. This presentation will focus on data protection issues under GDPR which may affect US companies with a presence or a subsidiary in Germany or the EU. In particular we will discuss the following topics.
- Rules governing the transfer of personal data from the EU to the US in the context of cross border M&A transactions in particular during due diligence exercises.
- How GDPR affects requests for (pre-trial) discovery in US litigation involving European companies.
- Recent development of enforcement activities of European data protection agencies under GDPR.
Speakers
Markus Bauer advises both German and international clients in connection with national and cross-border corporate acquisitions, the formation and administration of joint ventures, private equity transactions and the structuring and restructuring of corporations and groups of companies. A further focus of his work is advising management and supervisory board members on their respective duties and the development of compliance programs, including with respect to data privacy issues mostly in the context of (international) transactions as well as litigation and arbitration proceedings. For many years, Markus Bauer has lectured on Mergers & Acquisitions as part of a L.LM. program at the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences.
