Overview (Program Summary)
A program hosted by:
ACC ColoradoNow more than six months into the pandemic, a surge of Covid-19-sparked litigation is no longer speculation, but a reality. Through mid-October, Shook has tracked nearly 4,000 lawsuit filings. This program will include a presentation of the litigation by one of Shook’s leading attorneys in civil justice reform which will explore the most common claims, the industries or types of businesses most frequently targeted, and the first rulings in Covid-19 related cases. The program will also highlight the response by legislatures across the country, which are working to enact Covid-19 liability protections, and the remaining threats to businesses now and in the months to come. While the legislative response is making inroads to protect businesses, plaintiffs’ lawyers have plenty of room to wreak havoc in an already fragile business environment. Plan to join in on the roundtable discussion as the panel discusses those threats and what in-house counsel can do to help mitigate those risks. Bring your questions so this experienced panel can address those topics of greatest concern to you and your company.
This program’s speaker panel includes: Cary Silverman, Partner (DC) with Shook’s Public Policy Practice, Amy Attwood, Attwood Public Affairs, a lobbyist for the Colorado Civil Justice League (Denver), and Michael Mallow, Partner (Los Angeles) with Shook’s Class Action Practice. Paul Williams, Partner (Denver) with Shook’s General Liability Litigation practice will host the speaker panel.
