Overview (Program Summary)
A program hosted by:
ACC National Capital RegionWe all have implicit biases. Biases don’t make us bad people. When biases are left unchecked, they can result in poor decision-making, lead to disparate treatment and work at cross purposes with our personal, professional or business goals.
Rooting out biases in ourselves and each other is therefore essential to our work as lawyers – so essential that the American Bar Association Litigation Section has created an Implicit Bias Toolkit to help identify and combat the prejudices and biases that are endemic to our profession and the justice system more broadly.
Join us for an interactive discussion, based on the ABA’s work, to identify common, everyday implicit biases and how to deploy tactics to “de-bias” ourselves and our environments.
Presented by Buffy Mims and John Lewis, Jr., Partners with Shook Hardy and Bacon and Co-Chairs of the Firm’s Diversity Initiatives and LaTanya Langley, VP and General Counsel of BIC.
