ACC National Capital RegionStakeholders at every level increasingly expect a company to demonstrate a strong commitment to ESG through its business practices. Responsibility for drafting and updating dynamic ESG-related policies, as well as overseeing implementation and compliance of mandatory disclosure and voluntary reporting is a small, but important, facet of the in-house counsel’s role.
Counsel’s holistic perspective across an organization allows insight into legal risk associated with making, measuring, upholding and communicating ESG commitments. Involvement of the general counsel and staff is essential to manage corporate risk. This discussion will offer some principles for good ESG practices from a legal perspective.
Presented by Stacey Mitchell, Partner and Kenneth Markowitz, Consultant, at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, Patrick Samsel, Corporate Counsel, Director of Contracts and Legal at Fors Marsh Group and Kathleen Ambrose, Vice President, Global Government Affairs and Corporate Responsibility at TE Connectivity.
